Dr. Francesca Grisoni

Francesca Grisoni is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology (Chemical Biology, Dept. Biomedical Engineering), and a member of the Eindhoven Young Academy of Engineering. She leads the Molecular Machine Learning team, whose research focuses on developing novel artificial intelligence methods for drug discovery, at the interface between computation and experimental validation. The group’s mission is to augment human intelligence with AI, in the chemical biology, drug discovery and medicinal chemistry domains. Francesca received her PhD in 2016 at the University of Milano-Bicocca with a dissertation on machine learning for (eco)toxicology. She was hosted at the ETH Zurich and at the U.S. EPA National Center for Computational Toxicology in 2014 and 2015, respectively. After a sabbatical year working as a data scientist in a start-up and a biostatistical consultant for the pharmaceutical industry, she joined the University of Milano-Bicocca (2017) and ETH Zurich (2019) as a postdoctoral researcher, working on novel machine- and deep-learning methods for drug discovery and molecular property prediction. In 2019, she was awarded the Young Scientist Lecture Award by the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences of ETH Zurich.
