The recent development of 2D and 3D human primary cell systems have huge potential in the development of animal-free disease models that can be used at large scale. The advanced technology platform for disease model screening provides techniques and know-how on developing standardized human cellular disease models that can be scaled from bench to high-throughput. This allows for disease model usage in diagnostics, personalized-medicine, drug discovery, and fundamental research. A recently developed state-of-the-art automated imaging and liquid handling platform acts as a testing ground for developing automated medium- to high-throughput disease model screens. This advanced technology platform is embedded in the Centre for Living Technologies, thereby providing access to advanced techniques and excellent research.
