Congratulations to biophysicist Lukas Kapitein on his election as a new member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO)!
69 scientists have been newly elected as Members of EMBO, a prestigious society that consists of renowned researchers in the field of life sciences, and membership is a significant recognition of one’s outstanding scientific contributions. Members provide guidance and support for EMBO activities, for example by evaluating funding applications and serving on EMBO Council and Committees.
Lukas is Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biophysics at Utrecht University. He is also one of the four founding members of the Centre for Living Technologies. With his team, he develops and uses advanced microscopy techniques to visualize and understand the internal structure and dynamics of cells. This provides more insight into the formation and (dis)functioning of complex cells, such as nerve cells.
The new members will be officially welcomed into the EMBO community at the annual Members’ Meeting that will take place in Heidelberg, Germany, from 25th to 27th October 2023.
