Our post-doctoral researcher, Martijn Diender from Wageningen University and Research has been awarded a Veni grant from NWO.
His research project “Breathing metal & eating poison” aims to study carbon monoxide utilizing microorganisms that can reduce and precipitate valuable metals from metal-rich waste streams, cleaning-up the contaminated stream while recovering valuable metals.
Veni, a part of the NWO Talent Program offers researchers who have recently obtained their PhD the opportunity to further develop their ideas over a period of three years. The financing amounts to a maximum of 280,000 euros. More information can be found here.
